Rectangular Connectors – Headers, Male Pins, are commonly used in the same industries that apply traditional circular connectors. They are used in the electromechanical industry in networking applications as well as with data and communication systems. The rectangular chassis plug-and-socket type connectors are typically employed for all types of applications including personal computers, single board computers, compressors, pumps, air conditioning units, industrial labeling machines, etc.
The rectangular chassis plug-and-socket type connectors are made of cast metal and usually have two rows of male pins. The male pins have a diameter of 0.35 inches and are connected to each other by four-way female screws. The two rows of male pins can be arranged in various patterns to accommodate different plugs and sockets.
The first row is usually the power line and the second is the data lines. Networks typically have three to eight connections. Each individual connection has a diameter of 0.09 inches and a length of 0.16 inches. The connectors have a vertical orientation when mounted on the printed circuit board. The working principle of rectangular connectors is relatively simple and useful. The bottom row of the connectors is usually the power line and the top row is designated for the data lines.
