Aluminum - polymer capacitors, also known as polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors or aluminum electrolytic capacitors, are electrical components whose capacitance is larger than that of conventional electrolytic capacitors while taking up a much smaller volume. They were first released during the late 1990s and quickly gained high popularity in the commercial market due to their smaller size, lighter weight, improved reliability, and extended lifespan.
