Fuses are electrical safety components designed to protect electrical equipment from electrical overloads or short circuits. The 3JS 3.5 application field and working principle is a form of fuses that is used to protect electrical equipment.
3JS 3.5 fuses use a glass tube filled with an inert gas composed of helium, argon and nitrogen. Inside the glass tube is a small sealed wire containing a small amount of metal powder. When an overload or short circuit occurs, the metal powder inside the wire quickly melts and releases a large amount of the inert gas which presses outwards against the inner wall of the glass tube, breaking the tube and releasing the pressure. This action also opens up a shunt within the fuse which disconnects it from the power line, thus breaking the circuit and preventing further damage to the electrical equipment.
The 3JS 3.5 fuses also have a feature which allows it to be used for current limiting purposes. This is done by adding a second wire to the fuse which is filled with a slightly lower melting point metal powder. In the event of an overload or short circuit, this second wire also melts, but before it is completely melted, a thin layer of the metal forms which limits the amount of current which can flow through the fuse to a maximum preset level. This greatly reduces the risk of any further damage to the equipment, as well as reducing the amount of time the equipment remains unoperational.
3JS 3.5 fuses are a reliable and cost-effective way of protecting electrical equipment from overloads or short circuits. They are relatively easy to install and can be used for both current limiting and circuit protection. As with any electrical equipment, they should be regularly checked and replaced if necessary.
