They are typically classified as passive components, which means that, like resistors, they do not consume power but rather add a form of impedance or opposition against current flow, in this case associated with the phenomenon of inductance. 46102C fixed inductors are one among various inductor types. 46102C fixed inductors are of a unique variety in that they feature miniature, molded axial leaded inductors, no larger than 20mm by 12mm. Their small size contributes to their compatibility with a variety of applications and working environments, making them an ideal choice for space restricted systems. It is this same small size that enhances the practicality of the product, as smaller sizes allow for higher frequencies, better performance, and lower losses.The application fields of 46102C fixed inductors are manifold: automotive, computer systems, LED lighting, consumer products, aerospace and defense systems, telecoms, power supplies, and voltage regulators to name a few. In much of these applications, especially those in hostile environments and subject to many vibrations and constant movement, their size and ultra-high precision makes the 46102C inductors a prime choice.Entry-level 46102C fixed inductors can come in with inductance values ranging from 1µH to 10µH, and exhibit a wide range of resistance, current, and voltage ratings. Most of the inductors will have a rated current of up to 4A, a saturation current possibly ranging up to a test value between 8 and 11A, and a DCR rating from 0.16Ω to 2.5Ω.At the core of the working principle of most 46102C fixed inductors is the same property of induction that is responsible for other types of inductors, transformers, and motors. Inherent in the nature of induction is that of windings or coils that wound around a core, which is either made of an iron ring or preferred shaped ferrite or powdered iron. The central core of the 46102C inductor is often made of high permeability ferrite.When current is applied to the inductor, the moving electrons create an electromagnetic field was is inextricably linked to the current magnitude, similar to the phenomena of magnetism. The lines of these magnetic fields then act on the secondary winding of the inductor, which is present for the purpose of the output of the inductor. The effect of this is such that the flux creates a varying voltage, to which is proportional with the rate of change of the current.This effect assists in the filtering of a signal and providing impedance against a current. filter capacitors often used in parallel with the inductor in order to control frequency from a wider range of input. Combining these, the inductor filter and the capacitor filter, create a filter which has the ability to transform an alternating current wave form into a nearly perfect sinusoidal wave. A variety of 46102C fixed inductors with different radials and shielded cores are also available. The shielded inductors are specially designed to reduce much of the magnetic interference emitted by the other components in the system. By adding a physically and magnetically sealed shield, any external interference will be minimized and the functionality of the system will thus be increased.More advanced models of 46102C Inductors also come with self-shielding cores, offering better protection against external electromagnetic fields, compared to the traditional e-cores. Other features of these I core models include low DCR and high-Q values.
