Fixed Inductors

Inductors are used in electrical circuits typically to store energy in the form of a magnetic field. Electrical inductance is the amount of opposition an inductor presents when an alternating electrical current is applied. Through empirical studies, inductance has been established as based on some fundamental parameters: the applied frequency, the inductor’s geometric dimensions, and its physical construction materials. Different components may produce similar inductance values over specific ranges of frequencies: the inductance value of the component varies by a factor of R over the frequency range Δf. 4922-49H, a fixed inductor, belongs to this group of components.

Application Field

The impedance of 4922-49H fixed inductors mainly depends on frequency. It achieves the maximum inductance at low frequency but flattens out with high frequency. Because of its stability, many radio communications and other electronics uses prefer it over other inductors. In general, 4922-49H is applicable in broadcast communication, navigation, TV receivers, automotive, professional audio and many more.

Working Principle

The 4922-49H fixed inductor consists of two opposite helical windings of an electrical conductor to form a magnetic core inside a coil structure. The winding arrangement is made of a continuous coil wrapped in alternate directions, during which the core serves as a shield to prevent external interference. As the electric current flows into the inductor, it produces a magnetic field in the core. The amount of inductance with a 4922-49H is achieved by using the number of winding turns, the resistance and size of the wire used, the shape of the core and the area of the core. As the core material has higher electrical resistance, a higher frequency is needed, increasing the inductance value.
