Magnetic sensors have been used in a wide array of applications, including but not limited to, speed sensing, proximity detection, and position sensing. In terms of their working principle, magnetic sensors respond to changes in the inductive field of a magnet or a ferromagnetic material. This is then used to either measure position, distance, or velocity of a body with respect to the magnet. In more complex applications, a number of windings may be used together with a processing element, to provide output feedback. This is a physical phenomenon in which a voltage drop is created when a magnetic field interacts with a conducting material like copper or aluminium. A sensing element, called a Hall effect IC (integrated circuit), is configured into the module to detect the magnetic field and convert it into a proportional analogue or digital output signal. The Hall effect IC comprises of four components, including a magnetorefractive material, two connecting wires, and a power source.

When the magnetorefractive material is suspended between two connection wires, a magnetic field is formed when current is allowed to flow through the wires. When a magnet is placed in proximity to the Hall effect IC, flux lines from the magnet will interact with the current-carrying wires, and cause the electrons in the wires to be shifted. This shift in electron distribution will be detected by the IC and will then create a voltage signal, which can be amplified by op-amps to generate an analogue or digital output signal. This output signal can then be used to measure the position, speed, or proximity of a magnet with respect to the Hall effect IC.

The 59135-2-U-02-C is an efficient magnetic sensor module with a wide range of applications in industrial, automotive, and medical systems.
