When the customer inputs their personal details into an electronic device, an LED on the optoisolator will illuminate and depending on the type, either a transistor or photovoltaic cell will be activated. This will then send a signal to the output device, such as a printer or display, and if the details have been verified the printer or display will activate, thus authenticating the customer’s identity.
