Power Line Filter Modules (PLFM) are electrical devices used to filter out unwanted electrical noise from a power line. PLFM\'s are available in a variety of package types and ratings, and provide various levels of attenuation to reduce the incoming noise from the power line. The 62-AFL-060-3-11 PLFM is a three-phase input line filter module designed for much greater line noise attenuation than the single- and two-phase models. It is designed to provide higher levels of interference suppression on both differential (high frequency electromagnetic radiation) and common-mode (high frequency electric field) signals.
The 62-AFL-060-3-11 PLFM is a cost-effective solution for protecting sensitive electronic equipment used in industrial applications. This PLFM has an average attenuation rating of 11 dB at 1000 MHz and 28 dB at 2 GHz. It is designed to meet stringent system-level EMI requirements as defined in MIL-HDBK-454C and MIL-STD-461F, as well as providing optimal protection for industrial equipment such as motor controls, power supplies, electronic instruments, and other sensitive electronic components.
The three-phase input line filter module works on the principle of inductive and capacitive reactance to reduce common-mode as well as differential-mode noise currents. At low frequencies, the inductive reactance is greater than the capacitive reactance, therefore, the line current is reduced at these frequencies. Conversely, at high frequencies, the capacitive reactance is higher than the inductive reactance, resulting in filtering of the high-frequency noise currents. The inductors and capacitors of this PLFM are designed with optimized values, providing higher levels of interference suppression that can\'t be achieve with generalized fixed-value filters.
The 62-AFL-060-3-11 also features a ground lead line and a ground connection terminal for additional filtering. This is important for meeting certain waveform requirements, as well as providing ground fault protection from high-energy transients. The terminal and ground lead line are also equipped with a voltage dropping element to reduce impedance. This helps to maintain low levels of ground currents that can cause ground noise.
The 62-AFL-060-3-11 PLFM is an excellent choice for applications where high levels of noise reduction are desired. It can reduce the levels of conducted and capacitively-coupled EMI on both the differential and common-mode signals. It is also designed to provide an optimal combination of power line filter performance, size, noise rejection, and cost.
