Common Mode Chokes are often used in a wide range of applications including power line filtering, communication and even automotive control circuits. The 7105-RC application field and working principle is a specialized design for higher-frequency applications, such as radio frequency, wireless LAN, and even networks. The device operates on an inductance of 1.1-μH and a maximum current rating of 6.25 amps.
An inductor (such as the 7105-RC) works by resisting changes in current when a voltage is applied across its terminals. The inductor resists these changes because of the magnetic field that is created by the current running through it. This magnetic field generates an opposing voltage (opposite the applied voltage) that is proportional to the rate of change of current, as described by the fundamental equation used in electromagnetism, Faraday\'s law of induction. This opposition or impedance to change in current is called inductance, and the device used to contain this phenomenon is called an inductor, such as 7105-RC.
Inductors can serve a number of different purposes. In the case of the 7105-RC, the principle application is as a signal filter. A signal filter serves to remove unwanted signals from an electronic signal before it passes on to other components. Most commonly, there are two types of signal filters, high-pass and low-pass filters. A high-pass filter is used to remove signals that are lower than a certain frequency, and a low-pass filter is used to remove those above a certain frequency. The 7105-RC is an especially useful device because it is a combination of both high and low-pass filters in one device.
The 7105-RC, like all common-mode chokes, is composed of two concentric windings of inductive material. Each winding is magnetically coupled to the other, completely isolating each winding from the other. This is the "common mode" portion of the device, common-mode chokes are designed to remove what is called "common-mode noise". Common-mode noise is essentially an imbalance in the current between the positive and negative leads, or as AC current that is equal in magnitude but out of phase with each other.
The 7105-RC is an especially useful device at high frequencies because of the design of the windings. Since the core is small and the windings are compact, the device is able to respond very fast to changes in common mode currents. It also eliminates low-level noise that is inaudible but can create issues in other components or interfere with other signals.
The 7105-RC has a variety of uses in many different applications. In power supply circuits, common-mode chokes help reduce common-mode noise that can interfere with other components or cause/ contribute to power disturbances. They are also used in audio circuits to reduce background noise, as well as in communication systems to reduce cross-talk and interference from other systems. In automotive circuits, common-mode chokes help reduce EMI interference, which can disrupt the operation of the components.
The 7105-RC is an especially useful device for applications that require a higher level of signal filtration at higher frequencies. Its ability to remove both high and low-level noise effectively makes it an ideal choice for many different types of applications. Its compact design also makes it an ideal choice for applications where space is a factor. This makes the 7105-RC the device of choice for applications where signal noise and power disturbances need to be minimized.
