74ACTQ245MSA is a high-speed quad bidirectional bus transceiver with a three-state output. It isused for implementing two-way communication paths between data buses and is available in DIP packages making it easier to use for inputs and outputs. It’s basically an active bus interface that aids in bi-directional data transmission over the bus. It offers five output enable control inputs which may be used for logic control or for open collector driver controls.74ACTQ245MSA is well suited for low power, low voltage applications like local area network data networks, system basis chips, memory address/data buses, IBM PCs and other logic interfacing applications.

The device has four independent input transceivers and four independent output transceivers. All transceivers are constructed with a CMOS technology that offers high-speed operation and low static power consuming devices. Its I/O switches can operate at speeds up to 500 Mbps of information while consuming 20 mW of power. The output enable control inputs activate one group of four outputs, which can be connected in both unidirectional and bidirectional manner.

The signal propagation delay time is typically 20 nanoseconds in each direction with some variation between devices. The VOH and VOL levels are guaranteed up to 5.5V, and the input high level of 2.0V and low-level of 0.8V is guaranteed high speed specification.

In its working principle, the 74ACTQ245MSA works like a switch – data is transferred through the device via the three-state outputs. When the output is at logic high, the transceiver transmits data from the input to the output. When the output is at logic low, no data is transmitted.
