The 74ACTQ541SC is an octal buffer/line driver designed with low power Schottky technology and compatible with TTL logic levels. It features totem pole outputs and three-state capability and performs the true line driver functions. The 74ACTQ541SC buffer/line driver offers improved performance over standard logic families, providing greater noise immunity and higher data transmission rates over extended distances

In applications with relatively short signal paths, the buffer offers improvements in noise margin which can be as much as 6V of common mode noise rejection if the input referencing is correctly handled. It also provides high data transfer rates with reduced power consumption. These features make the 74ACTQ541SC attractive for applications such as military, aerospace, and high-speed communications.

The 74ACTQ541SC works as either a buffer (line receiver) or a line driver. When operating as a buffer, the device receives TTL input signals and translates them to equivalent CMOS outputs. The device also works as an inverter. When used as a line driver, the device takes CMOS output signals and translates them to equivalent TTL input levels. On the device, each buffer has a separate output in both normal and inverted forms called a totem pole output.

The device can be configured with 3-state outputs which can disable their associated drivers, allowing multiple devices to share a single bus. The 74ACTQ541SC configured as a line receiver is active-low, meaning it is enabled with a low voltage on its ENABLE input, and has a totem pole output on OE that acts as an output enable. When used as a line driver, the device is active-high, meaning it is enabled with a high voltage on its ENABLE input, and has a totem pole output on OE that acts as an output enable. The 74ACTQ541SC can switch signal levels up to 1.6ns and allow data transfer rates up to 16Mbps.

The 74ACTQ541SC is capable of driving up to 45mA of source and sink current which is a considerable improvement over standard TTL parts and comes in a 20-pin slim SOIC package. The device is rated for operation between 0℃ and 70℃ and its power supply voltage is rated between 4.5V and 5.5V.
