74HC107DB,112 Application Field and Working Principle

The 74HC107DB and 74HC107DB, 112 are two flip flop logic devices belonging to the HC logic family. They both offer superb performance in terms of noise immunity, high-speed operation, robustness and very low power consumption. Both devices are ideal for applications such as digital integrated projects, where they can be used as a gate to switch other devices on and off, or to form clocking circuits, or in timing and counting applications. The 74HC107DB and 74HC107DB, 112 each have two D-type flip flops, with data input and data output, an asynchronous reset input, clock input, and output enable. This allows for both the positive (74HC107DB) and the negative-edge (74HC107DB 112) clocking of the D flip flop, or a combination of both. The output enable allows for a greater degree of flexibility when designing circuits. The working principles of the two devices is based on the basic behaviour of the flip-flop, a two-state memory device. The flip-flop maintains two stable states, High and Low. It is triggered with a clock edge to switch states, thus making it an ideal device for timing and gating applications when working in conjunction with other logic devices.The 74HC107DB and 74HC107DB 112 are made up of two J-K flip flops which require both data input and clock input with an asynchronous reset. Each flip flop has two outputs, Q and Q\' which are complementary. This means that when the Q\' output is high, the Q output is low, and vice versa. The data input, D, is used to control the setting of the flip flops output. If the D-input is low, the output will be a 0, if the data is high, the output will be a 1. The clock input C is used to control when the device changes the state. The asynchronous reset, R, will reset the Q output to 0 and the Q\' output to 1 whenever it is taken low. The output enable, OE, is used to disable the output when it is taken low. This is useful when multiple devices are connected in series, as it allows the data to pass through without affecting the output of each device. The two devices are designed to operate over a wide range of supply voltages, typically between 2.0 and 6.0 volts. The devices are ESD protected, offer a wide operating temperature range, typically between -40 to 85°C, and have a maximum propagation delay of 4 ns. The devices are designed to meet the standard CMOS levels, and they are also available in a number of packages, such as SOT23-5, SOP14, SOIC14 and SSOP14.The 74HC107DB and 74HC107DB 112 logic devices offer an excellent balance of high-performance, low-power, low-voltage and versatility for applications that require robust, reliable and high-speed operation.
