The 74HC164T14-13 is mainly used in communications and various electronics applications. It can be used for serial data transmission, image processing, data storage and digital filtering applications. The 74HC164T14-13 consists of eight flip-flops connected in series. The eight flip-flop stages form an 8-bit shift register. Data is loaded into the register from the serial input pin, or “Data In”. As the register is shifted, the data is moved bit by bit towards the serial output, or “Data Out”.The “Shift Clock” pin of the 74HC164T14-13 controls the operation of the register. When the Shift Clock is LOW, the register is reset and data is loaded into the register’s first stage. Every time the Shift Clock pulse is HIGH, the 8-bit data is shifted one position toward the serial output. When the last bit shifts out of the register, the “Data Out” pin will go LOW.The “Latch Enable” pin on the 74HC164T14-13 is used to latch the data into the register and is used in combination with the “Shift Clock”. When the Latch Enable is HIGH, the data is latched in the register, and when the Latch Enable is LOW, the register will shift the data out.Conclusion
