The 74HC2G125DC-Q100H logic monostable works on the principle of Edge- triggered Positive-Edge Triggered (ETPE) Trigger System. The circuit is enabled by the rising edge of the internal trigger signal. It then generates a single Output pulse. The Width of this output pulse is determined depending upon the external capacitor. This capacitor is connected from the chip output to its trigger input pin. The timing of the pulse width is very accurate and completely independent of the pulse-clocking waveforms.

The 74HC2G125DC-Q100H has two trigger inputs. In single trigger mode, the rising edge of the trigger signal initiates a waveform which is applied to the trigger input pin. The other trigger input remains inactive. In dual trigger mode, the rising edge of the trigger signal is applied to both the trigger input pins at the same time. By this, a waveform is initiated at the first trigger input which is internally connected to the second trigger input, and thus generating a single output pulse.

The chip operates from a logic supply voltage 4.5-5.5V. Its output pulse width can be adjusted depending upon the value of the capacitor. The Rise and Fall Times of the waveform can be increased or decreased depending upon the capacitor values for better performance. The chip is also a Schmitt logic inverter with Schmitt trigger logic.
