The 74LCX16244 is an advanced Low Voltage 3.3V Octal Buffer/Line Driver with Bus Hold designed for applications requiring full 2-wire bus control under hot-swapping conditions or for applications requiring a very hot insertion or removal of the device. It is capable of transferring data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock, thus providing a fast and reliable means of data transfer. The device has a total of eight data lines (four input and four output), thereby providing a simple way for data to be buffered and/or transferred point-to-point or point-to-bus.

The 74LCX16244 uses an octal Bus Hold feature that prevents false data entry in the case of hot insertion/removal of the device. The Bus Hold functions by latching data onto the data input pins when the clock not is active, preventing any possible data disruption. This feature makes the 74LCX16244 an ideal choice for any system requiring hot-swap configurations such as rack-mounted computers and data centers.

The 74LCX16244 also supports low voltage operation and has a low-voltage 3.3V power supply to as low as 1.71V at specific operating conditions.
