The 74LV540APWJ series are open-drain buffers with 3-state outputs designed for use in application fields requiring low voltage operation and designed to meet the requirements of the JEDEC standard specifications. It is an ideal solution for local bus buffering and other memory and peripheral applications. The 74LV540APWJ is an octal buffer and translator that comes with eight non-inverting 3-state outputs with Schmitt-trigger inputs. This octal buffer/line driver incorporates two sets of data buffers, each with a separate ground reference voltage (V1, V2) and a separate supply voltage (Vcc).
The 74LV540APWJ consists of two separate logic drivers that can operate in the high impedance 3-state mode. The 3-state device allows up to two circuits to be connected. This enables two buses to be connected with two lines in and two lines out. In addition, the enable control allows either or both of these buffers to be transitioned between the enable and the 3-state mode. The enable of the 74LV540APWJ can be placed in a high impedance 3-state without the use of the GATE terminal. The devices provide a full 10-kV ESD protection.
The 74LV540APWJ devices can provide up to 24 mA of current drive at 4.5 V, and offers up to 25% higher output voltage when compared to other 3-state buffers. This prevents circuit glitches from mismatched speeds, enables simultaneous read and write operations, and eliminates the need for external OR gates.
