74LVC14AMTR is a single Schmitt-trigger inverter-type logic gate in the 74LVC logic family of CMOS integrated circuits. The 74LVC14AMTR features improved noise immunity over the other families in the 74LVC family and features high speed switching up to 150 1μs for TTL levels. Its intended usage is for fast logic level changes, in designs requiring logic compatible with the Schmitt Trigger action. This device consumes very low quiescent power making it an ideal choice for power sensitive applications.

The 74LVC14AMTR belongs to a family of complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices proven to be compatible with TTL, providing low power and high noise immunity. It is differential input, symmetrical output operating at a supply voltage of between 1.65V to 3.6V, with an ideal low power delay of 28ns and output current of 8mA at 3.0V. It houses multiple Schmitt-triggers, each with two inputs and one output and also comes with Schmitt input current that is dependent on the input transition threshold occurring at a certain predetermined level.

The 74LVC14AMTR Logic Gates are mainly used to trigger digital circuits with fast switching and low power. Being an inverter, it receives an input signal and provides the inverted output signal of the received input in the form of open collector output. The high input threshold level of the inverter allows the device to operate in environments exhibiting high noise and low-impedance signals. It is often used as a line driver or logic buffer to interface between digital signal sources and devices that have stronger pull-up or pull-down than digital signal sources, such as in IPMI systems or noise-sensitive systems. This device is also used in general purpose applications such as oscillator, signal prescalers, Schmitt trigger flip-flop, commonly used for signal processing and other switching applications.

The 74LVC14AMTR features a logic threshold voltage greater than 1.5V and therefore can be used together with TTL logic circuits. It is mainly implemented in logic converters, logic level shifters and other logic level translation circuits as it can accommodate high voltages as well as low voltage logic such as RS-232, EIA-232 and UART. It is also used for power converter design as the low threshold voltage of the device allows it to switch between slow and fast states, making it ideal for use in power supplies.

The 74LVC14AMTR operates with a particular set of input and output voltages used to control the state of the internal logic gate. For example, the input voltage at the inverter’s input must be between 0.7V and 2.0V. The output will change state when the input voltage level moves above or below a threshold voltage. If the input voltage rises above 1.5V, the output voltage will be logic 1. On the other hand, if the input voltage falls below 0.8V, the output voltage will be logic 0. In addition, the output voltage can be pulled back to logic 0 even if the input is greater than 1.5V and logic 1 if the input is less than 0.8V.
