The 74LVC1G97DW-7 is a dual configurable CMOS logic device. When the device is set to the adder mode, the two binary digits, A and B, are added together while the third input of each switch (the control input) is set to a logic high state. With the third input set to a logic high, a logic high sum (Y) is outputted when both A and B are set to a logic high. When either A or B is set to a logic low, a logic low sum (Y) is outputted. This operation is also known as an OR gate.

When the device is set to the inverting signal mode, the binary digits A and B are added together while the third input of each switch (the control input) is set to a logic low state. With the third input set to a logic low, a logic low sum (Y) is outputted when both A and B are set to a logic low. When either A or B is set to a logic high, a logic high sum (Y) is outputted. This operation is also known as an XOR gate.
