An AC Fan is an electronically commutated motor (ECM) designed to operate with AC power. It has a built-in controller that monitors the speed and noise levels of the motor, and adjusts the frequency and output of the fan. With ECM technology, AC fans are capable of providing greater efficiency and increased reliability than conventional fan motors.
AC fan applications tend to be in larger equipment, such as electric motors, pumps, compressors and air conditioning systems. As the current changes direction, the motor magnets and armature rotate, driving the fan blades. This also ensures that motor torque is kept at its maximum, increasing air flow efficiency.
