875/14 Application Field and Working Principle

Wire Ferrules, or commonly known as ferrules, are commonly used in terminal blocks for connecting wires. It is a cold stamping and cold formed part, and is composed of metal sheet or tubing with non-linear cross-sections. Connecting wires to the terminal blocks is made simpler and more secure with the use of ferrules.

Ferrules, or also called connectors, come in a variety of shapes and sizes and each is suitable for a specific application. The 875/14 series of wire ferrules is used in terminal blocks for high voltage applications.

Each of the 875/14 ferrules is composed of a body that measures 2.08mm in diameter, and with a knurled section that measures 8mm in length. It has an internal diameter of 14mm, and a hexagon opening. The clamp head of the ferrule measures 10mm in length, with an external diameter of 13mm. The 875/14 wire ferrule is sold with a long side tab, and some are sold with a crank tab.

The 875/14 wire ferrule is used in high voltage applications such as Main Power distribution and cable terminal blocks in the electronic industry. It is also used in medium voltage applications such as Lighting Control or Power Distribution terminal blocks. Thanks to its ability to provide a fast, secure, reliable and stable connection between two electrical conductors, the 875/14 wire ferrule is ideal for industrial and commercial use.

The working principle of the 875/14 wire ferrule is quite simple. The ferrule is inserted between two electrical conductors, which is usually done with crimp tools. The crimp jaw teeth of the tools cut the wires and create an electrical circuit. The ferrule is then fastened and tightened in order to prevent loosening of the connection caused by vibration and to keep the wires firmly in place.
