90155-AS

90155-AS are miniature, subminiature and ultra subminiature, single pole single throw (SPST) switches which are used for many applications in the industrial, medical, audio/video, telecom, computer industries, automotive and instrumentation areas. They are also known as gold-plated reed switches and are made from extremely small plastic or metal reed contacts and a small thin plastic or metal tube.

90155-AS is used in a variety of applications including but not limited to:

90155-AS can also be used for low voltage and low power circuits such as analog circuits, micro-controllers, programmable logic controllers and embedded devices.

90155-AS switching principle is based upon a plastic or metal reed contact and a small thin tube which contain a light spring. The magnet is positioned in such a way that when the magnetic field is activated, the reed contact closes and allows current to flow through the circuit. When the magnetic field is removed, the reed contact opens and the circuit is broken. This type of switch can also be used as a limit switch, where the switching point can be adjusted by varying the air gap between the magnet and the switch.

When the current flows through the coil, it produces a temporary magnetic field which attracts the reed contact and closes the circuit. When the current is switched off, the magnet’s attraction dissipates and the spring-loaded reed contact opens, breaking the circuit.

This type of switch is used in applications where a very small switch is required and other types of switch may be too bulky or too costly. They are also used where a high reliability is needed and mechanical switches may not provide the required switching performance.
