A-2014-1-4-R is one type of modular connectors, which mainly belong to jacks. Modular connectors, also called modular phone jack and plug, are electrical devices that allow for the quick, temporary connection of two or more electrical circuits, and disconnect them without having to break the circuits completely. Jacks are most often thought of in music applications, where they are used as audio connectors, but they have a much broader range of applications. A-2014-1-4-R differs from standard jacks.
The body of A-2014-1-4-R modular connectors is made from lead-free/halogen-free/fluorine-free ABS polymer and with UL94V-0 flame retardance & RoHS double-wins certification. Generally, the jack also composed of a pin and an insulation-displacement contact without soldering, to connect the wire. A-2014-1-4-R modular connectors provide simple and reliable connection for various network media. They are used in many applications such as CAT6 cables, Ethernet lines, 10/100 Mbps and 1000Base–T applications.
A-2014-1-4-R is performance-enhancing modular connectors with unique features. The jack has a drop-style terminal block for an easy and secure connection. The use of dual metal-shielded gas plugs and gold-plated contacts ensure a stable connection, minimizing data-transmission losses and providing better protection against EMI/RFI interference compared to standard jacks. Furthermore, with suitable cable types, A-2014-1-4-R modular connectors can reduce the handling noise while connecting. The plug has been designed to reduce the noise during forward and reverse operation, further protecting the data transmission quality.
The internal structure of A-2014-1-4-R modular connectors consists of two parts: a connector body and an insulation displacement contact. The connector body is made from ABS material, which has a UL94V-0 rating and RoHS certification. It is designed for easier handling, with a plug-in-plug ‘push-pull’ locking mechanism to ensure secure connection. The insulation displacement contact is a 3-pair IDC, featuring a soldering pin on one end and an insulation displacement contact on the other. The soldering pins and IDCs are made from phosphor bronze material, which is corrosion-resistant, durable and highly resilient. The use of the pins and contacts provide reliable conductivity and secure connection, with a contact resistance of 15 mΩ (maximum).
The insulation displacement contact is designed with a unique switching module, which is responsible for the connection between the contacts. The switching module consists of a movable core, which can be moved back and forth by a lever. The lever is connected to the core through a series of link arms and actuators. When the lever is pushed, the link arms move the core back and forth, causing the contacts to disengage or engage. The entire operation is similar to a plug-in-plug ‘push-pull’. When pulled, the link arms move the core back and forth, while the contacts are pushed or pulled apart. This operation ensures a secure connection between the contacts.
A-2014-1-4-R modular connectors also feature a latch system which provides further protection against data-transmission losses due to EMI/RFI interference. The latch system consists of two locking pins, which fit into the female connector and hold the male connector in place. The latch system ensures that the two jacks are securely connected and will not come loose due to external forces.
A-2014-1-4-R modular connectors are designed to be used in a variety of applications, from Ethernet lines to 10/100 Mbps, 1000Base–T, CAT6 cables and Ethernet lines. They provide an easy and reliable connection for various network media, while providing an increased signal quality and reduced data-transmission losses due to EMI/RFI interference. Furthermore, the plug offers a unique noise-reduction capability, making it an ideal choice for applications that require a quiet environment.
