Magnetic sensors utilize the principles of magnetism to detect and measure magnetic fields and detect changes in magnetism. Magnetic sensors can be utilized to detect magnetic field strength, velocity, and direction of the magnetic field as well as the presence and position of metal objects. Magnetic sensors are typically categorized into three main types: linear, compass, and integrated circuits (ICs).

AB001-02 Application Field and Working Principle

The AB001-02 magnetic sensor is a linear Hall-effect sensor. This type of sensor is commonly used in power tools, consumer electronics, robotics, and monitoring and control systems. It is also used in medical instruments, analytical equipment and industrial process monitoring. The AB001-02 is a three-terminal, Hall-effect based device featuring a brass coated non-overlapping internal magnetic field providing a linear output response to an applied external magnetic field. It has an operating temperature range between -40°C and +125°C and operates on an operating voltage range of 2.7V - 3V.

The AB001-02 magnetic sensor is composed of two parts: an electronic component called the Hall Element and a permanent magnet. The Hall element is a three terminal semiconductor device which is sensitive to a magnetic field. It works by using the Hall effect, which is a phenomenon that exists when a voltage is created when a conductor (or semiconductor) carries an electrical current is placed in a perpendicularly applied magnetic field. The voltage created, which is called the Hall voltage, is linearly proportional to the flux density of the magnetic field, and hence the force and direction of the magnetic field.

The AB001-02 magnetic sensor is operated by applying a external magnetic field to the sensor. The applied magnetic field generates a Hall voltage on the Hall element, thereby inducing a current in the sensor\'s output terminals. This current is then connected to a circuit for processing. The output from the driven circuit is used to detect the strength, direction, and origin of the external magnetic field.

The AB001-02 magnetic sensor is used in a variety of applications including consumer electronics, medical devices, analyzers, process monitoring, robotics, and power tools. The sensor is useful for measuring parameters such as magnetic field strength, magnetic field direction, magnetic field origin, and the presence and position of metal objects. It is also capable of detecting and measuring changes in magnetic fields and is useful for creating contactless switches, measuring rotational speed, and acquiring signal phasing.
