RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) shielding and absorbing materials are designed to protect electronic and IT equipment from uncontrolled electromagnetic radiation. The AB5050 application field and working principle are among the most sought-after technologies in this field.

AB5050, stands for advanced boron nitride/bronze composite, is a laminated material that is used to fabricate electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields and absorption systems. It was developed out of a need to address the increasing levels of interference caused by the high-frequency digital signals used in modern communications technologies. Its key function is to absorb and/or shield the intrusive radio frequency energy from passing through electrical and electronic systems.

This material is capable of providing high electrical conductivity, and excellent resistance to radiation, heat and humidity. Its unique combination of physical properties makes it ideal for shielding against both low and high frequency radio waves, including FM, AM and even various forms of digital transmissions. The use of AB5050 in the shielding of electronic components such as vacuum cleaner motors, power supplies and electronic circuit boards is becoming increasingly popular.

The AB5050 application field and working principle involve a combination of materials that are laminated together using two layers of silicone adhesive. The first layer is a carefully selected grade of boron nitride that is capable of providing excellent electrical isolation while continuing to remain flexible. The second layer is a highly resilient form of bronze, which works to provide excellent shielding and absorption performance.

The particular combination of materials used in the AB5050 application field and working principle provides a heat-conductive form of shielding that is able to disperse and absorb the heat generated from the electronic components. By doing so, it helps to ensure that electronics and IT equipment are able to remain safe and separated from the nearby sources of electromagnetic interference.

In addition to being used for EMI shielding and absorption purposes, AB5050 is also employed For thermal management of electronics and industrial control systems. The material can be applied to, or around, processor-intensive components in order to provide effective heat conduction and dissipation. This helps to ensure that temperature does not exceed the safe operational levels, leading to longer and more reliable operation of the electronics.

It is also increasingly being utilized as a replacement for more traditionally used ways of controlling EMI, such as copper tape. Copper tape offers some level of shielding, but it is far less resilient than AB5050 which offers superior absorption and shielding capabilities, as well as being much more cost-effective. An additional benefit is it is also very easy to install, which makes it a popular choice for many applications.

It has proved to be a reliable and cost-effective solution to control RFI and EMI, as well as providing effective thermal management of various electronic components, ensuring that they are kept safe and running reliably for much longer.
