RF evaluation and development kits, boards are essential components to enable research and development of radio frequency (RF) systems for a wide variety of applications. The ACC-ZIPR-CE-H is a combination development board and evaluation kit that uses a National Instruments Zynq Ultrascale-MPSOC processor and a Xilinx KU060 FPGA to enable rapid prototyping of applications in the field of radar and communications.

The ACC-ZIPR-CE-H platform consists of two co-packaged boards, the host board and the FPGA carrier board. The host board contains a Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale-MPSOC processor, which is a combination ARM processor and FPGA. This allows the user to restructure the bitstream partition in the FPGA, allowing multiple boot methods. It also has a large number of in-system programmable (I/O) pins available to allow for the easy and programmable integration of system-level features. The FPGA carrier board contains a Xilinx KU060 FPGA, which contains 6 512DDR RAM blocks, 2 64-bit DDR RAM blocks, various I/O pins, and a variety of add-on boards. This allows the user to quickly develop system-level hardware prototypes and verify their operation.

The ACC-ZIPR-CE-H development board is preloaded with an ATE-like test executive, designed to support the creation and execution of a sequence of tests on multiple boards, allowing the user to identify the most promising design parameters taken from such tests. The ATE executive supports downloading of configuration files, parameters, test programs, and dynamic-link-library (DLL) functions to the processor, while the FPGA carrier board supports programming over JTAG, SPI, and internal system-level devices. Additionally, the ACC-ZIPR-CE-H board supports debug and trace controller, ARM CoreSight debug, and other peripherals.

The ACC-ZIPR-CE-H board is designed for applications such as communications, embedded systems, machine learning, radar, signal processing, and artificial intelligence. Its various add-on boards include: an independent baseband system; an advanced oscilloscope board; a configurable VCO as well as an amplifier, DAC, ADC, and other peripherals; a frequency measurement board; a Bluetooth transceiver; a general purpose I/O board; a data acquisition board; and a thermal control board. All of these boards enable the user to develop a wide variety of working systems with the highest level of accuracy.

The ACC-ZIPR-CE-H board’s FPGA carrier board includes features such as a dedicated local bus interface, an external clock as well as internal clock sources, and two ARM cores. Additionally, the ACC-ZIPR-CE-H board supports a variety of power management options including dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, programmable power settings, and adjustable clock rates. All of these features and capabilities make the ACC-ZIPR-CE-H board an ideal platform for developing, prototyping, and testing radar and communications applications.

The ACC-ZIPR-CE-H board is designed with an extensive library of drivers for a wide variety of components, enabling users to quickly and easily develop various application-specific builds. The board also provides a range of development tools to help users evaluate performance and quickly modify their application designs, including a powerful MATLAB/Simulink-based system for rapid prototyping. Finally, the ACC-ZIPR-CE-H platform has the ability to plug-in to advanced design software such as Visual Studio as well as support multiple PCIe add-on boards.
