The ACH-30 fuse is a member of the low voltage series of UL-recognized, Class CC supplementary protection, and agency-listed specialty fuses from Eaton. This type of fuse is one of those most often used in electronic applications, mainly because it is a good starter for those items that require a fast acting, high current fuse. As this particular fuse is part of the low voltage range, it can be used for a wide variety of applications and is suitable for any voltage level from 24 VAC to 600 VAC.

The ACH-30 fuse has two main components—a metalized case and an internal element which is made from zinc (an electrically conductive material). The metalized case provides protection from external damage, while the internal element is designed to specifically control the current that passes through the circuit. When the system is operating normally, electric current can flow unhindered through the ACH-30. When the amperage exceeds the level for which the fuse is rated, however, the internal element melts and separates, thus interrupting the current flow. The melting of the element is usually accompanied by an audible pop, which serves to signal that the fuse has triggered.

The ACH-30 fuse provides a very simple type of protection, but it is effective. Electronic devices containing the fuse will be secured from damage caused by sudden connection or disconnection of external power supplies, such as batteries. It is also useful in controlling the current draw of electrical motors, which are generally not powered with an on/off switch. In such cases, it serves to prevent destruction of the motor from massive electrical surges.

Applications for the ACH-30 fuse vary greatly. It is used in every kind of electronic device, including televisions, computer monitors, amplifiers, and alarm systems. Wherever a fast-acting, high current fuse is needed, the ACH-30 is a great solution. Furthermore, it meets UL standards and is FCC recognized for maximum safety and optimal operation.
