Motion sensors, also known as accelerometers, are devices that measure movement or changes in an object’s position. The primary purpose of the AD22283-B is to measure linear acceleration in 3-dimensional space with a full-scale resolution ranging from ±200 g to ±1000 g. This motion sensor uses a capacitive sensing technique to measure acceleration and features a silicon MEMS platform with a low temperature coefficient of zero drift. In addition, the AD22283-B is equipped with a built-in power amplifier and analog-to-digital converter to facilitate data readout and transmission. This motion sensor is also equipped with a built-in FIFO buffer and interrupt control registers that allow the device to output data at a predefined frequency, without the need for user intervention.
In terms of operation, the AD22283-B employs a dual vibration system to sense acceleration in 3 axes. The lower frequency vibration system consists of a spring and mass system attached to a type B differential contact. The higher frequency vibration system consists of two type B differential contacts connected to a MEMS device. Each of these components responds to acceleration differently which allows the AD22283-B to accurately measure acceleration in all 3 axes. The vibration systems are sensitive to acceleration up to 1000g in all axes with a linearization error of less than 0.5%.
