AD766ANZ Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) Application Field and Working Principle
The AD766ANZ is a Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) manufactured by Analog Devices. This device is part of the data acquisition solutions portfolio that includes an array of components like analog-to-digital converters, switches and multiplexers, and a variety of other devices that enable rapid and reliable data transfer.The AD766ANZ converter is a precision monolithic device featuring a full-scale range of 4.096 inches with a conversion rate of 8 MHz, which makes it ideal for use in wide variety of applications including gaming systems, force sensing applications, and industrial control. In addition to its high speed conversion, it also provides high accuracy, with a settling time of typically 0.8 μs, a typical integral nonlinearity of 0.25% full-scale and low noise at 3.5 mVrms.The AD766ANZ also features a range of protection features and robust protection circuitry to ensure that the device will continue to operate even in the event of power transients or overcurrents. It features an undershoot protection that prevents the output from undershooting and provides input overload protection. It is powered by a single 3.3V supply and requires a 5V reference voltage, which is provided by an on-board reference.The AD766ANZ uses a differential Voltage mode architecture which allows higher accuracy and greater system flexibility. This device is based on a delta-sigma conversion technique, where the incoming digital signal is sampled and integrated and then put through a low-pass filter to remove any high frequency components. The device also performs a decimation process which reduces the sampling rate and improves the resolution of the analog output. The device is designed to receive 8-bit data and provide a voltage output from a 0 to 4.096V. The data is received serially and clocked by an on-chip phase locked loop (PLL) for data synchronization and an external clock for data transfer. The low-pass anti-aliasing filter is included in the clock path in order to prevent any aliasing from the high frequency content of the input data.The AD766ANZ can be used in a variety of applications in which analog output signals are required, such as force-sensing systems, gaming systems, and control systems.
