Data Acquisition - Analog Front End (AFE)
Analog Front End (AFE) is a type of hardware device or integrated circuit (IC) used in data acquisition systems to perform analog-to-digital conversion. This enables the signal to be converted from its analog form to a digital form before it is processed and output. An AFE is used to condition and amplify signals that are acquired through analog sensors, and provide power and common mode rejection to the signal-conditioning amplifier. The AD7730BRZ-REEL is a high precision, low power, 24-bit sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with integrated PGA and reference, featuring a 2048Hz signal bandwidth, 4 programmable gain selectable ranges (up to 30kHz), and separate programmable input range. It is powered by an external 3.3V supply, and is housed in a 5mmx5mm, 32-pin QFN package.The AD7730BRZ-REEL is used for low-noise signal acquisition applications that require a high resolution and accuracy. It is ideal for medical applications, such as patient monitoring, portable healthcare equipments, and thermometry. It can also be used in audio and communication systems such as receivers and transmitters.The AD7730BRZ-REEL works by sampling signals at user-defined intervals and converting them to digital data. It is designed with a on-chip voltage reference, which allows the resolution of the signal to remain accurate over time. The AD7730BRZ-REEL also has two selectable low power modes, which reduce power consumption during signal sampling.
