The AD7741BR-REEL is one of the latest devices available in PMIC - V/F and F/V Converters. It is a sine wave generator which is able to provide low distortion Differential Voltage Source (DVS) to multiple circuits. It is able to control the gain of the output voltage, and therefore can be used to drive multiple circuits with different output requirements. The device works through a Primary and Secondary Capacitance Along With Capacitances Interfacing Circuit (PCAIC) in order to regulate the output.

Application field and Working Principle

The AD7741BR-REEL is mainly used for building high quality sine wave sources. It is ideal for audio, clock, and waveform generation applications. The device is able to provide low distortion sine waveforms outputted at different frequencies and amplitudes. It is easily able to be integrated into other systems.

The device uses a PCAIC which allows the regulation of the output. The device’s primary and secondary capacitances act as the voltage references of the direct-conversion capacitively-coupled loop (DCCL) converter. The primary and secondary capacitances are coupled in such a way that they create an active low-pass filter. The filter is used to control the sine wave’s frequency and amplitude. The output is generated by the PCAIC’s output square wave oscillator, which is synchronized to the input frequency in order to set the frequency of the output voltage. The square wave oscillator also sets the amplitude of the output voltage.

The AD7741BR-REEL is able to provide the flexibility of frequency and amplitude settings due to the fact that it’s useful in almost any type of application. It is able to provide a sine wave output up to 6V peak-to-peak voltage. It is also able to provide a maximum frequency of 30kHz. Other than this, the device doesn’t need much power to operate making it ideal for battery powered applications. The part is currently available in 10-pin MSOP, 8-pin MLF, 8-pin PDIP packages.
