1. Describe

The ADM213EARUZ-REEL7 is a family of robust RS-232 and V.28 interface devices that operate from a single 5 V supply. These products are suitable for operation in harsh electrical environments and comply with the EU Directive on Electromagnetic Compatibility. Emission levels and immunity meet requirements. EM immunity includes ESD protection over ±15 kV on all I/O lines, fast transient burst protection, and radiated immunity. EM emissions include radiated and conducted emissions as required by EN 55022, CISPR 22 for information technology equipment. All devices are fully compliant with EIA-232-E and CCITT V.28 specifications and operate at data rates up to 230 kbps. Shutdown and enable control pins are provided on some products. The shutdown function of the ADM211E disables the charge pump and all transmitters and receivers. On the ADM213E, the charge pump, all transmitters, and three of the five receivers are disabled. The remaining two receivers remain active, allowing peripherals to be monitored. This feature allows the device to be turned off until the peripheral starts communicating. An active receiver can alert the processor, which can then bring the ADM213E out of shutdown mode. Operates from a single 5 V supply and requires four external 0.1 μF capacitors.
