ADM3311EARU application field and working principle
The ADM3311EARU is a medium-speed RS-232 driver/receiver that combines the features needed to easily interface the system to a wide variety of PC serial ports. The receiver features low input bias and offset current and provides a fail-safe feature in which the receiver output state is constant when the input is open, shorted, or as high as +/- 30 V. This feature eliminates the need for external terminating resistors. In addition, the receiver has an active current limiting circuit.
The driver portion consists of an open-drain output driver capable of sinking up to 8 mA of current. The driver includes an ESD protection network that can safely withstand +/- 15kV ESD on the output pin. The ADM3311EARU is available in two different versions with low and high power consumption. It also has a wide operating voltage range from 2.8 to 5.5 V. It is offered in a SOIC-8 package.
Application fields
