The ADM4853WARZ-RL7, from Analog Devices, is an ultra-low quiescent current, single-channel receiver/transmitter (R/T) designed for isolated applications. This device provides inductive isolation, bidirectional galvanic isolation, and wide common-mode input voltage range. It can support data rates up to 600 Mbps and has an enable pulse the width of 1/10th the enable duration of the data rate.
The ADM4853WARZ-RL7 has three main application fields. An important application could be motor control systems requiring an accurate speed measurement and a improved efficiency,such as in elevator/escalator/lifting applications. The device can also be used in high voltage motor control applications up to 1000 V where galvanic isolation is needed. The device’s working principle is based upon magneto-resistive Coupling. When a bias magnetic field is applied to the magnetic core, it induces a current in the windings, enhancing the signal. The electrical signal and the magnetic field interact so as to convert the electrical signal into a magnetically coupled signal which is then transmitted between the transmitter and receiver coils. This principle is used to transfer data signals through the device, providing isolation from noise, ground bounce, and voltage overshoots which can adversely affect data transmission.
The ADM4853WARZ-RL7 features an integrated voltage regulator, allowing it to operate directly from a wide range of supply voltages while providing high common-mode rejection and linearity. This device also offers very low power consumption, thanks to its low quiescent current operation. In addition, the transmitter and receiver channels have separate turn-on and turn-off edges, allowing the receiver rail voltage to be optimized for minimum power consumption.
