The ADSP-21479SBC2-EP is designed for use in embeddedapplications requiring the processing power of fixed-point DSP. Itleverages the architecture of the DSP to deliver high performanceprocessing of real-time signals and processes. The processor hasa high degree of parallelism and supports up to four simultaneous 256-bitprocessing cores, with each core being able to processup to sixteen 16-bit or sixteen 32-bit operations in a single clock cycle.This processor has an on-chip instruction cache thatsupports up to 512-kbit and is capable of fetching four instructions percycle. In addition, it has an on-chip data presence detectionmechanism that allows data to be pre-fetched before it is actuallyrequired by the application.
The ADSP-21479SBC2-EP has an efficient memorymanagement system based on a 4x3-matrix System Matrix Controller. Thismemory controller allocates up to four columns in thematrix for each core and is capable of dynamic allocation of any of thefour banked memories in the same space for each core.The processor also supports up to eight 512K-bit data memory banks andeight 256K-bit instruction memory banks. It can access thesememories at a rate of one cycle per access.
