It employs two varieties of insulation materials such as the Polyimide and Kapton® which are flame-retardant and have UL approval and also meets FAA requirements.The AFFC-100-15-102-11 cable is designed for overhead flexible circuit assemblies primarily used in aircraft and aerospace applications where tensile strength and maximum flexibility are vital. This flat ribbon jumper cable is also flexible enough to be routed through confined interiors of aircraft which have very tight radius of curvatures. The length of each cable can also be easily customized according to the application requirements.The wiring is composed of 4 to 20 AWG conductors insulated by extruded fluoropolymer materials. Among these materials, Kapton® is known for its excellent mechanical, chemical, and electrical traits. It has the added advantage of being lightweight, super thin, and extremely flexible. Polyimide insulation, on the other hand, possesses strong electrical insulation, heat resistance, and great mechanical strength.The conductors are interlinked in a single flat flex ribbon which is covered with a flexible jacket material. This jacket is also flame-retardant and ensures that the wires are firmly bound together. This interconnection also minimizes power loss and maximizes the length of run which in turn reduces the overall diameter of the cable.The AFFC-100-15-102-11 ribbon cable is also compliant with MIL-STD-461 standards and provides excellent resistance to high temperature, oil, gasoline, and chemical agents.
