AP2191DFMG-7 is a power distribution switch, load driver and battery charger management IC, offering a complete system under robust environmental conditions.
It is designed to reduce overall time-to-market, design costs and project risk by providing an easy-to-use, pre-integrated, highly configurable and reliable system.
The AP2191DFMG-7 delivers a complete range of output current levels and a simple interface allowing robust battery charging and discharge control. With its powerful PMIC, the AP2191DFMG-7 provides a complete set of voltage and current regulation, protection, battery charging and discharge control functions to achieve a wide range of applications.
An integrated LDO provides voltage regulation for the main power rail from 4.2V to 7V, and the device features an ideal diode for power path management in bio-cell systems for LED and LCD backlighting, portable electronic systems and industrial machine power supplies.
To ensure low standby current and high efficiency in various applications, the AP2191DFMG-7 supports two low power modes: Standby and Shutdown. The AP2191DFMG-7 is available in an SO-8 package.
Control and Protection features of AP2191DFMG-7 include a Programmable Gate Driver (PGD), Over-Voltage Protection (OVP) and internal power switches.
The Programmable Gate Driver (PGD) of the AP2191DFMG-7 allows power management operations of external loads. It provides the flexibility needed to control external LEDs, LCDs and relays in a very simple configuration. The PGD has an adjustable frequency of 4MHz and is capable of driving an external P-Channel MOSFET with up to 20V.
Over-Voltage Protection (OVP) is a built-in feature of the AP2191DFMG-7. The OVP circuit senses the output voltage and adjusts the gate drive saturation voltage to keep the output voltage within the specified safety range. This feature allows the device to monitor and protect both the power delivery and the power consumption.
The AP2191DFMG-7 also contains two selectable internal voltage regulators and a PMOS power switch. The internal regulators provide a superior level of system performance and offer a current limiter that can be programmed to prevent over-current conditions. The PMOS power switch is capable of switching up to 8A continuously.
The AP2191DFMG-7 also features a battery charging and discharge control circuit. The circuit is a bi-directional battery charger/discharger with an adjustable charge current and voltage. The device can sense the battery voltage and adjust the current setting to match the battery\'s charge and discharge requirements.
The charging and discharge control circuit can be programmed to accept or reject battery charging or discharging depending on the configured parameters.
