The AMS5163-HTSM position sensor is an angle-sensing device that provides precise information about the angular position of a moving part. The sensor uses contactless Hall Effect technology to accurately measure the angle of rotation.The AS5163-HTSM angle sensor has a range of up to 1.6 radians. It has a linear response and provides a 0.64 VDC output signal over a 0-5V range. The output signal is proportional to the angle.The sensor features a wide sensing range and a low profile design. It has a built-in contactless Hall effect element that operates in a low current mode and provides 360° angle detection. The device is 4-pin compatible and comes with a long life expectancy.Working Principle
Hall effect sensors work on the principle of detecting the angle of a permanent magnet from a sensing element. This sensing element is typically a printed circuit board with line or spiral patterns of conductive trace. When the permanent magnet is moved in relation to the sensing element, the current flowing through the conductor turns on and off.The AS5163-HTSM angle sensor uses a contactless Hall effect element to measure the angle of rotation. The Hall effect element contains two elements – a sensing element and a magnetic core. The sensing element consists of four magnets with alternating north and south poles arranged in a circular pattern. The magnetic core is usually made of iron or nickel and works as a conductor for the magnetic field generated by the magnets. When the contactless Hall effect element is placed within the magnetic field, the north-south polarity of the magnet induces a current flow in the sensing element that changes its resistance. The resistance of the sensing element is also proportional to the angle of rotation of the magnet relative to the sensing element.
