Pin Configurable/Selectable Oscillators are integrated circuits designed to generate a constant frequency or output waveform over a wide range of temperatures and conditions. This can be done by providing two or three control pins that can adjust the parameters of the oscillating element, such as its amplitude, frequency, and waveform shape. As a result, a wide range of frequencies and waveforms can be generated by just changing a few parameters.

ASEMCLV is an example of a Pin Configurable/Selectable Oscillator. It is an integrated circuit that is used to produce an adjustable-frequency clock output. The ASEMCLV provides two control pins: ASEL and PCLK. The single-ended, pull-up controlled level pin (ASEL) is used to select between two different frequency outputs while the clock output pin (PCLK) is used to adjust the frequency of the selected output.

The working principle of the ASEMCLV pin configurable/selectable oscillator is based on the use of a crystal connected to an amplifier and filter to generate a clock output. The ASEL pin is connected to a controller, which in turn is connected to a voltage-controlled oscillator. When the ASEL pin is set to its active state, the frequency of the output is determined by the voltage of the voltage-controlled oscillator. When the ASEL pin is set to its inactive state, the voltage-controlled oscillator is bypassed and the frequency of the output is determined by the crystal frequency.

The PCLK pin is connected to a voltage-controlled oscillator and is used to adjust the frequency of the selected output. The frequency of the output is adjusted by changing the voltage of the voltage-controlled oscillator. The output frequency can be adjusted from as low as 1MHz up to as high as 25MHz.
