Introduction of Fixed Inductors

Inductors are a passive electronic component which store energy in the form of magnetic fields. They are commonly used in power supplies, oscillators, filters, matching networks, and antenna applications. They consist of a loop of conducting material such as wire or a ferrite core, through which a current is passed. At the center of the loop is a magnetic field which interacts with the current, creating a magnetic field in the opposite direction. This interaction between the magnetic and current fields is known as Faraday’s Law. An inductor is a device that stores energy in the form of magnetic fields, and is available in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Fixed inductors - as its name implies - offer a fixed (or manufacture-specified) value of inductance that is not likely to change over operational or environmental variations, such as temperature, response time, power loss/consumption, etc. That\'s why they can be used in both AC and DC applications. Fixed inductors are available in different forms such as air core, ferrite core, powdered iron core, and thin-film core.

The ASPI-2410-3R3M-T2 fixed inductor is a surface-mount device with various sizes and core materials. It is capable of sustaining high temperatures (up to 250°C), while delivering high-frequency operation with a low DCR of 1.75 ohms. The ASPI-2410-3R3M-T2 offers excellent insulation and a wide operating temperature range of -20° to +105°C. Its rated current range is from 0.25A to 2.25A.

Application Field and Working Principle

The ASPI-2410-3R3M-T2 is ideal for use in power supplies, DC-DC converters, switching power supplies, and other electronic and circuit applications. It is commonly used in buck converters, battery chargers, step-down converters, and boost converters. The inductor is typically used in reverse input voltage protection circuits and discharge charging circuits with limited power source protection. Additionally, it is used to provide filter or tuning circuits in communication systems.

At its core, the fixed inductor essentially operates as a coil. When a current passes through it, a magnetic field is created in the opposite direction of the current. As long as this current passes through the inductor, the magnetic field will be sustained. The amount of inductance present in an inductor is determined by the size and shape of its core.
