The AWHW20-G-SMD-R is a high-density, polarized rectangular SMD connector with integrated male pins for PCB boards and automated surface-mount assembly.

Working Principle

The AWHW20-G-SMD-R industrial connectors are based on a simple design principle. The male pins on the connector are inserted into the holes in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) from the top edge of the device. When connecting the pins, the polarized latch design prevents the connector from being inserted incorrectly into the holes. After that, the two contacts are mated together, establishing an electrical connection.

The contacts are then held together with a retainer, which is typically a screw or rivet. This retainer prevents the contacts from coming loose while the device is in operation. To disconnect, the screws or rivets are removed and the connector is pulled from the PCB. It is a simple yet effective system that ensures reliable connections and long-lasting performance.
