Working Principle

B72210S2171K101 is provided with a double network, one on the positive and one on the negative monophasic line. This is due to the high peak currents which are provided by a surge. This is achieved by placing two series connected Zener diodes network between the power line and the ground. During normal operation, each Zener diode will resist the normal current flowing through it. However, when there is an overvoltage event, the Zener diodes will begin to conduct, allowing the overvoltage to be clamped and discharged into the ground. This will effectively limit the voltage on the line to a predetermined safe level.
