Fixed inductors, also known as inductors, are generally composed of a coil, a ferrite core or an air core, an iron core, a large and a small pin, and a lead wire connecting the inner and outer pins. In general, the ferrite core consists of a PCB (printed circuit board) with a coil and a ferrite core on it. The iron core is usually made of a ferrite core and a copper core. The B78148T3391J is an example of a fixed inductor manufactured by EPCOS. This inductor is a high-frequency power inductor, suitable for use in a variety of applications. It has a rated current of 0.67A, an inductance value of 33.00µH, and a dc resistance of 0.43mΩ @ 25°C. The B78148T3391J also features a tall and slim profile, with a height of only 2.6mm and a diameter of 12.0mm. The B78148T3391J basic application field covers integrated circuit (IC) circuits, digital circuits, low-frequency radio frequency (RF) circuits and other fields. As a passive component, the inductor’s working principle is based on Faraday’s law of induction. When the current through the inductor coil changes, the reversible electromagnetic field generated by the coil will in turn induce a voltage proportional to the rate of change in the current. This voltage is in opposition to the change of current, thus the resulting inductance. At the same time, the B78148T3391J inductor has an excellent temperature stability and high shielded, which makes it suitable for a variety of applications including boosting, smoothing or RF functions, as it can be used to remove power harmonics or reduce power ripple. It also has a wide frequency range to reduce the temperature rise of the circuit, as well as low ESR and ESL that provide less power losses and noise.In terms of heat management, the B78148T3391J inductor adopts the air core construction instead of the traditional ferrite core, as the air core construction has better temperature dissipation ability. Additionally, the low dc resistance of 0.43mΩ @ 25°C enables the product to operate continuously at current levels up to where the inductance value remains stable. Furthermore, the satisfactory EMC properties of the product ensures that it will not influence the surrounding circuits.
