Common Mode Chokes are widely used in electrical systems to suppress the transmission of interference. They can be used in both AC and DC circuits to reduce EMI. B82721A2402N020 is an excellent example of a Common Mode Choke designed to provide a high level of noise suppression, in particular differential-mode current and single-ended noises. It is constructed with two ferrite cores wound bifilarly and offers high attenuation of unwanted noise, up to 50dB, in a range of 1MHz to 300MHz.

The core of a Common Mode Choke, like the B82721A2402N020, provides a toroidal inductor that is wound with two bi-filarly wound windings configured for the maximum common-mode attenuation. The two windings are connected internally. When voltage is applied to the windings, a magnetic field is formed, which helps to inductively oppose the noise caused by interference. Common Mode Chokes are commonly used in alternating current circuits where the component’s inductance reduces the noise in the circuit.

The B82721A2402N020 is designed for use in high voltage direct current as well as in switched mode power supplies. The other great advantage of this Common Mode Choke is that it can also be used to reduce EMI in both balanced and unbalanced circuits.
