BB-WSD2CA3 is a radio frequency (RF) receiver, transmitter, and transceiver finished unit. It is an integrated single chip solution that packs the effective waveform generator, radio data link controller, modems and power amplifier into a compact 4.9 gram package, making it an ideal choice for embedded applications requiring good performance in a small size.
BB-WSD2CA3 Application Field
The BB-WSD2CA3 is designed for low power, short range radios incorporating a GFSK modulated receiver. These include Wireless alarm/security systems, Industrial Automation (alarm/tracking/telemetry), Wireless Remote Control and Automation, UAVs, Automotive systems, SCADA networks, IoT, ISM & M2M, Home Automation, Wireless CCTV, Building Automation, RFID, Mouse/Keyboard, Infrastructure and many other applications.
BB-WSD2CA3 Working Principle
The BB-WSD2CA3 integrates a low power, GFSK modulated receiver. It can be used either as a standalone transceiver or as part of a multi-transceiver system. It includes an RF transmitter, an RF receiver, as well as an embedded processor that controls the data link communications. The BB-WSD2CA3 uses both an RXGSM logic, which is used to control the RX and TX commands, and the FIFO, which is used to transfer data between the RF transceiver and processor.
The RF receiver uses a low-IF (intermediate frequency) architecture and contains a limiter, which is used to provide a constant signal level at the input of the IF stage. The IF stage is then passed through an IF filter, which low-passed the signal to a 9MHz bandwidth. The filtered signal is then further filtered in the baseband using a Gaussian filter, which passes signals with a 200kHz bandwidth complying with the GFSK modulated receiver requirements. The output of the receiver is the baseband signal, which is modulated in FSK and decoded by the DATA patch of the BB-WD2CA3.
The transmitter side of the BB-WSD2CA3 uses different components than the receiver in order to generate GFSK modulated waves. The IF stage of the transmitter is composed of a VCO (voltage controlled oscillator), followed by a divider. The synthesizer of the BB-WSD2CA3 can be programmed to generate signals ranging from 0.75MHz up to 4.8GHz. The signal generated from the VCO is then filtered in the IF filter and is passed through a GFSK modulation filter, which passes the signal through the final power amplifier stage before being transmitted.
