When a mating pair of connectors is connected, the male contact pins plug into the female contacts. The head of each pin is then surrounded by the sleeve of the female contact to create a tight connection. Once the pins are fully inserted, a retention clip engages with the sleeve of the female contact to ensure that the contact pins are held securely in place. This contact system provides a secure and reliable connection with a low insertion and extraction force.
