BK/C519-500MA Circuit Protection

A fuse is an indispensable protective device─an integral part of the electrical system that is employed over a wide variety of applications─consisting of a conducting element connected in series to a circuit, with an integral over-current protection device that opens the circuit in the event of an over-current or high fault condition.

The BK/C519-500MA is a non-time-delay fuse, specifically designed for the protection of short-time, low-current and low-temperature applications. This fuse uses a filament type fuse element of 0.8mm diameter. It comes in a 6.3 x 32mm package that makes it suitable for mounting on printed circuit boards.

Application Field

BK/C519-500MA fuses finds application in areas such as commercial, residential and industrial settings. It is recommended for use in the protection of circuits such as branch circuits, solar systems, instrumentations, electrics appliances, motor starters, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and as supplementary protection in variable frequency drives (VFDs). It can be also used in protection class II of IEC 60947-Es standard.

Working Principle

The BK/C519-500MA series fuse works in such a way that it has a nominal cut-off current of 500mA. When the current exceeds 500mA, the fuse element in the BK/C519-500MA becomes heated and eventually melts. The molten element then forms an insulation barrier between the two terminals of the fuse, thus opening the circuit and preventing further current to flow.

Apart from providing protection in case of over-currents, the BK/C519-500MA also provides electrical isolation in the system. This ensures that if any fault in the circuit occurs, the remainder of the circuit remains free from harm, and continues to work normally.
