Working Principle of BK/GMA-V-100MA

The BK/GMA-V-100MA fuses function by melting an electrically conductive metal element inside the fuse in order to create an open circuit, preventing further current flow. In normal operation, the fuse contains a low-resistance element across its terminals, and carries the load current. When an overload or a short-circuit occurs, the load current increases to a very high level and the electrically conductive element melts due to the heat generated by the current. This causes an interruption of the circuit and prevents further current flow.

The BK/GMA-V-100MA also includes a replaceable element which consists of a copper core with a silver-plated copper-magnesium-chromium-iron alloy wire coating. This element contains two fusible parts and is designed to convert the excess current into heat, then melting and interrupting the current flow. The melting process occurs in no more than 8 ms.

The replaceable element of the BK/GMA-V-100MA also contains a replaceable time-delay slide, which is designed to delay the interruption of the current by a certain time, depending on the application. This delay time ensures that the fuse does not open on normal operating currents, and only opens on high overloads or short-circuits. This helps to prevent unnecessary interruption of the circuit.
