Working Principle

The thermal element is composed of an element known as an NTC, or Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistor.

The NTC Thermistor is a variable-resistance device whose resistance decreases as temperature increases. This resistance is then used to limit the current that can flow through the element. As the current reaches the rated value, the NTC element will start to dissipate heat, rapidly increasing its resistance and preventing the current from exceeding the rated value. Once the current is reduced, the NTC thermistor cools down and returns to its original low-resistance state. This thermal cut-off mechanism ensures that the BK/PCF-1 will accurately and reliably interrupt the current flow, without a risk of blowout.
