When current flows through the fuse, the HRC element conducts the current and the current flows with no resistance. As the current exceeds the fuse\'s current rating, the HRC element melts, which opens the circuit, thus preventing further rise in current.At the same time, the thermal element responds to the current after a certain delay. This prevents the fuse from blowing in the event of momentary over-currents which would be of a lower magnitude than the interrupting rating of the fuse. The thermal element warms up and conducts current. When the current is decreased, the thermal element cools down, thus restoring the circuit. The BP/FRN-R-40 fuse is a reliable and effective dual-element time-delay fuse which is well-suited to a wide range of consumer and industrial applications. It responds quickly to momentary over-currents, without the fuse blowing in the event of lower magnitude momentary over-currents.
