The BP/MAX-20ID is a fast-acting, current-limiting unit designed to protect electrical systems and circuits of any voltage level against over-currents and short circuits. The reset coil and relay can come in different sizes and with different settings, such as current rating, reset times, and reset differentials, with their sizes and settings determined by the specific application in which the BP/MAX-20ID is used. These settings can be easily adjusted and most models come with additional ports to extend the functionality of the device, such as a manual trip switch or a monitoring interface.

The BP/MAX-20ID also comes with several key safety features, such as an Anti-Short Cycle Inhibit timer, which prevents the circuit from being reset too quickly. The timer ensures that the unit does not prematurely reset and, instead, allows the coil to reset itself, giving the device time to cool off and reset appropriately.
